International Photo Competition Rules
Article 1 : PARTICIPATION
The Association Vivian Maier et le Champsaur is organizing its 11th photographic competition with the theme:
" Vivian Maier’s Legacy "
The contest is free and open to the general public with no age limit.
Jury members, members of the Management Committee and organizers are not authorized to participate in the contest.
Participation in the Competition implies the commitment of competitors to comply with these rules and to accept them in their entirety.
Article 2 : Modalities
Each participant presents a single Black and White image.
The transmitted file must be in JPEG format, 2MB maximum (longest side 1920 pixels).
For example : 1280 px x 1920 px = 1.25Mo
The photograph presented must be anonymous, without any trace of identification of its author.

February 1, 2026 at midnight GMT on the competition website:

Photo files not meeting all of the above conditions will not be presented to the jury.
Article 3 : JURY
The Jury will be composed of 3 qualified personalities in Photography, and recognized for appreciating and analysing the work of Vivian Maier.
The 3 Judges will rate each anonymous file presented to them out of 20, giving a maximum score of 60. The Association will establish the ranking and announce the results: its decision will be final.
The organizing committee reserves the right not to select: an image already presented in previous Vivian Maier competitions, or which would harm the spirit of Vivian’s artistic work, or the degrading representation of a person. The works selected by the jury will be featured in a slideshow during the announcement of the results and for the animation of the exhibitions at the Maison de la Photographie Vivian Maier in Saint Bonnet en Champsaur. The honorary awards will recognise the most original, technical and emotionally powerful images, perpetuating the visionary and timeless spirit of Vivian Maier.
The 2025 competition received photos from 35 countries around the world. By participating, photographers pay tribute to the work of a globally renowned artist.
Article 4 : Use of photographs
Within the framework of its statutes, the Association Vivian Maier et le Champsaur may use the photographs presented for the competition for the purpose of hosting subsequent photographic exhibitions, publishing them on its website and social media, and transmitting them to magazines and newspapers to announce the competition exhibition.
No remuneration will be due for this.
The Association prohibits any commercial action with a digital file presented in the competition.
Article 5 : Image rights
The authors are solely responsible for all rights relating to the works they present.
The Association cannot be held responsible in the event of non-compliance with the law by the photographer.
Handwritten parental authorization is required for a photograph of a minor.
By participating in this competition and following the rules, each photographer agrees to be the author of the work presented and to hold the authorizations and rights to distribute its content.
For this purpose, the organizers of the Competition may ask participants for a file with EXIF data for authentication in case of doubt (IA).
Article 6 : PALMARES
The results will be announced on Sunday, April 11, 2026 at 3 pm at the Maison de la Photographie Vivian Maier in Pisançon- Saint Bonnet 05500.
Participants will be able to view the results on:

Nominees will receive a personal confirmation email.
Among the best rated photos, 6 prizes will be awarded:
- Grand Prix 2026- chosen by the jury
- 2nd Prize – chosen by the jury
- 3rd Prize – chosen by the jury
- Association Prize
- Favorite of the President
- Favorite of the organizers
- A diploma from the
Association Vivian Maier et le Champsaur with the prize obtained will be delivered to the author.
A slideshow of the best photos will be created to be shown at the Maison de la Photographie Vivian Maier, in Pisançon, during the “Vivian Maier’s Legacy” events presented in 2026, the centenary of Vivian’s birth.
Article 7 : Procedure for saving your file
Participation must be made by filling out the form on the homepage of this site. You must provide your first and last name, email, address and country.
You will then need to fill in the photo information, the file, a title and a description.
Article 8 : Financial Participation
To help with the running of the Association and the sustainability of the International Competition, a symbolic contribution of 2€ is requested.
